Sky+HD will provide you with all the benefits of Sky+ with the added extra of High Definition TV.

High definition television provides picture quality up to five times better than standard digital TV. HD gives very crisp, clear pictures, richer colours and great depth producing cinematic experience that is as realistic as it gets. This is made possible by using the more efficient digital signal to deliver more information to your television set. Many programs are broadcast in Dolby 5.1 surround sound and can be watched in wide screen format.

In order to receive Sky+HD viewers need to purchase the Sky+ HD box and to subscribe to the Sky HD package for an additional £10 per month. You will also need to make sure that your television is HD ready, to do this check that your set has the HD ready logo.

The Sky+ HD box is currently free for new customers joining Sky TV. Sky will setup and install the Sky+HD box for which there is a one off installation fee of £30. Once setup, you will be able access all the functions of the Sky+ box with the added extra of Sky’s HD channels giving an amazing picture and the highest quality sound.

The Sky+ box will show all the channels on any given package to which you have subscribed. Once the box has been setup it will allow you to record up to 80 hours of standard digital or 30 hours of high definition television. However, not all programs will be broadcast in high definition. Currently there are nineteen available showing over 7000hrs of HDTV each month. These channels include Sky Sports and Movies, Channel 4 HD, BBC HD and FXHD showing the hit series Dexter and documentary channels such as the History channel. Only programs on HD channels will be shown in high definition.
